DJ Hitman’s story begins in Brooklyn. In 1983, at thirteen, Billy was breakdancing and writing graffiti. Inspired by Jam Master Jay, Grandmaster Flash, and the wider hip-hop culture around him, he turned his attention to records.

From battles to the studio

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Hitman developed his turntablist skills through local DJ battles. Throughout the 1990s, he played venues and parties and built a mobile DJ business in New York.

In 2000, he began working in the studio with DJ Flash, combining remix work with original music and collaborations with other artists.

The New York Hitmen

In early 2006, Hitman formed The New York Hitmen, or NYH, with DJ Flash as a close collaborator. The crew brought DJs together to showcase their skills and develop mash-ups and remixes.

The original biography names DJ Sizzahandz and DJ Riz among their influences and records releases in The New York Hitmen section of CrooklynClan.net.

A career across rooms and audiences

At the time of this 2015 welcome, Hitman’s credits included work for Montel Williams, Nintendo, ABC Soap Net, Pepsi, Pioneer, T-Mobile, Samsung, Crunch Fitness, LL Cool J, BizBash, and Torrel Torrel.

The biography also listed appearances at New York venues including Pacha, Room Service, Pure, Gypsy Tea, Home, and Suite, along with Hard Rock in Tampa and Bliss in Dallas.

This archive entry welcomes DJ Hitman as the 15th DJ to take the Senate pledge. Venue and client references reflect the history documented in May 2015.
